New opportunities are being created in familiar fields and new professions are emerging as our understanding of healthcare increases. As a result, there are many medical assisting professions that provide excellent wages and stability, but do not require university training. Choose to train in this field for a rewarding career.

Admission Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent or Mature Student Status.

Courses are open to any applicant who possesses a good command of the English language and is able to follow instruction.

Full time students must attend the required hours per week as per the course schedule and may do so at times convenient to them.

Part time students may set their own schedules to a minimum of two training sessions per week. These times may be scheduled during the day, evenings, or on weekends.

The objective of this program is to provide the student with opportunities to acquire and apply the knowledge of Medical Receptionist skills to meet the demands of today’s business.

This program provides students with the base knowledge, skills, and work experience to become permanently employable in a wide range of medical settings. Skill development is delivered in three areas:

  • Fundamental receptionist skills, business coespondence, medical terminology, basic medical office procedures.
  • Full-range of computer and office skills, including current software applications, keyboarding skills, general office operations and customer service.

Graduates of this program are qualified to work in a wide variety of healthcare settings and occupations. Job titles vary per location but graduates are an integral part of many healthcare settings which may include:

Career Opportunities:
  • Reception is Ambulatory / Outpatient departments
  • Reception in Complementary and alternative medicine clinics such as chiropractic and acupuncture centres
  • Reception in Daycare
  • Reception for Physicians' offices, clinics, mental healthcare and allied healthcare centres
  • Reception for Walk-in care centres
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Patient reception & customer service.
  • Office supplies & inventory, correspondence & mail processing.
  • Billing & collection procedures.
